Ultrasonic Testing (UT) uses high frequency sound energy to conduct examinations and make measurements. Ultrasonic inspection can be used for flaw detection/evaluation, dimensional measurements, material characterization, and more. To illustrate the general inspection principle, a typical pulse/echo inspection configuration will be used.
IQMS provide UT level I and Level II training as per ASNT. Minimum eligibility criteria for NDT training below:
Level 1
- 40 hours Training.
- 3 months Work Experience.
Level 2
- 80 hours Training (additional to the 40 hours for Level 1).
- 3 months Work Experience (additional to the 3 month for Level 1).
- If a candidate wishes to go direct to Level 2 without first taking the Level 1 route, the minimum requirements are the total accumulative requirements of both Level 1 and 2.
Level I Ultrasonic Testing
- Introduction to Ultrasonic Testing.
- Basic Principles of Acoustics.
- Equipment.
- Transducer Operation and Theory.
